So, you've had a new baby, and no doubt you'll be going through all kinds of emotions. This is a magical and an intensely personal time for you, your partner and your new baby. Here is a look at how you can welcome your new baby into your home.
First of all, you need to make sure that you both have plenty of time to rest. Try to rest while your baby is napping. As you are integrating into your home and life, you'll need plenty of rest and sleep, especially after going through labor. Given that looking after a young baby means having less sleep than usual, it is no surprise that mothers often feel they have no energy. Your body needs to rest and if you are both rested, it will make everything less stressful for you. Make sure your baby is comfortable and that the baby bedding is safe and comfortable so he'll sleep as much as possible and give you time to sleep.

Try to plan on staying home for awhile especially during the cold weather, new babies should be kept warm and relatively germ free, so try and avoid taking the baby out at least for the first couple of weeks. Understand that postpartum depression occurs to many women and is very common among new mothers to experience a period of 'low' moods. This can range in severity from a mild and normal period of mood disturbance, sometimes called 'baby blues' this is so common that it can be considered normal. Symptoms include being weepy, irritability, anxiety and feeling low. It usually starts around the 3rd day, but usually goes by the 10th day after childbirth. This depression may make it more difficult for you to bond with your baby.
